Guwahati: Noted filmmaker in Bollywood and currently, one of the judges in India’s Got Talent (IGT), Karan Johar happened to hurt the Assamese sentiments by saying untoward words concerning the Assamese traditional things ‘Jaapi’ and ‘Gamusa’ which are considered as the highest tokens love and respect.

In an Instagram video posted by the filmmaker on November 10, he could be seen mocking at the traditional headgear from Assam. Johar, in the video, could be seen present in the set of the reality show IGT wherein he is seen saying mocking words towards the Assamese headgear. As seen in the video, when his co-judge in the reality show, Kirron Kher asks him to wear the Assamese headgear Jaapi, he responds to it by saying, "...you have guts, I don't" and refused wearing it.

Later, in the same video, Johar is also seen to have told her that she would break into a qawwali with the hat on. Kirron Kher, not very pleased at his reply, said, "How can I break into a qawwali in a bamboo hat. What's wrong with you? You don't know the states of this country."

Kirron in the video was seen donning an Arunachalee headgear that she had received as a gift. As Karan had received a ‘Jaapi’ as a gift, she requested him to wear his ‘Jappi’ and it was then he made fun of the headgear.

But Karan had to apologize for what he said about the traditional Assamese headgear and even remove the video post from Instagram on being made to face criticisms from people in Assam and other places. As seen in Twitter one if the fans of Karan pointed it to him as to where has he gone wrong in reply to which Karan expresses his apology. Later Karan posted his apology in Twitter as well.
