Kellerman has been an actor for nearly 60 years. She was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance as Major Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan in Robert Altman's film M*A*S*H (1970).
Kellerman's manager, Alan Eichler, confirmed, saying she died in her sleep on Thursday morning from heart failure at her home in California.
Sally was born on June 2, 1937, in Long Beach, California, to a piano teacher mother and a Shell Oil executive father.
Kellerman began her acting career in the early 1950s, in a theatrical performance with fellow Star Trek guest actor Dean Stockwell, despite having a longtime passion for singing. Kellerman's first screen appearance in Reform School Girl (1957).
Kellerman also released two albums and contributed songs to the soundtracks of Brewster McCloud, Lost Horizon and many more.
