Mohanlal's Drishyam 2: Trailer to be Released on February 8

It is directed by Jeethu Joseph. The film has all the actors from the 2013 hit prequel and it will have a direct release on OTT platform.

MUMBAI: Actor Mohanlal will soon be seen in the sequel of the 2013 Malayalam hit movie Drishyam.

Drishyam 2 is slated to release on the streaming site Amazon Prime Video and not in theatres. On February 5, the Drishyam team announced that the trailer will release on February 8.

Mohanlal took to Twitter to announce the same and wrote, "The mystery continues... #Drishyam2Trailer out on Feb 8! #Drishyam2OnPrime coming soon, @PrimeVideoIN (sic)."

Drishyam 2 has been directed by filmmaker Jeethu Joseph, who helmed the prequel as well. The movie has an impressive cast that includes Meena, Esther Anil, Siddique and Ansiba Hassan. The movie has been produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Ashirvad Cinemas.

The prequel, Drishyam revolved around the journey of a protective father and his family. The sequel will take off from where Drishyam ended. A teaser of the upcoming film was released during New Year implied that the sequel will take right off from where the first film ended.

The film received glowing reviews for the strong performances and engaging screenplay. It was the first Malayalam film to collect ₹500 million from the box office. The film grossed over ₹750 million worldwide and ran for more than 150 days in theatres

It was later remade in multiple languages, including a Hindi language version, starring Ajay Devgn. It was also remade in Chinese as Sheep Without a Shepherd (2019) and is apparently the first Indian film to be remade in Chinese.

Apart from Drishyam 2, Mohanlal has three upcoming films- Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, Aaraattu and Ram. The Priyadarshan directed film has a star-studded cast that includes Manju Warrier, Arjun Sarja, Suniel Shetty and Kalyani Priyadarshan.

Aaraattu is all set to hit the big screens in August 2021, according to reports. Ram is also directed by Jeethu Joseph. According to reports, the movie will release in 2021 after the release date got postponed due to the pandemic.
