TMKOC: Actor Monika Bhadoriya Levels Accusations Against Producer Asit Modi

MUMBAI: For a while now, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been making headlines in the worst ways. Following Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal, another former Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah performer, Monika Bhadoriya, has come forward and levelled serious accusations against Asit Modi, the show's producer, and the show's creators. In the sitcom, Monika Bhadoriya played the part of Bawri. She appeared in it for a while until leaving midway through the season in 2019.

In a recent interview with the media, Monika Bhadoriya said that Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah's producers had neglected to pay her three-month arrears, which came to almost 4-5 lakhs, for more than a year. The former actress admitted it took her more than a year to fight for her money. Several former performers' paychecks have been placed on hold by the producers only to subject them to abuse. She added that the actors who played Tapu and Roshan Singh Sodhi, Gurucharan Singh and Raj Anadkat, have not yet been paid.

Monika described her time on set as "hell" and stated how the producers didn't provide her any assistance. She recalled how the producers would call her early in the morning for the shoot even though she would spend the night at the hospital while her mother was receiving cancer treatment.

Monika Bhadoriya said that Asit Modi, the producer of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, never called her to offer his condolences after her mother passed away. Monika revealed that, despite being in a difficult situation, she was requested to participate in the shoot seven days after her mother passed away.

Monika said, "When I said I wasn’t in condition, his team said, ‘Hum aapko paisa de rahe hai, hum jab chahe aap ko khada hona padega chahe aap ki Mummy admit ho ya koi.’Since I had no other choice except to cry every day, I went to the set. Upar se unka misbehaviour and torture bhi karte the. Before the call time, they would phone me on the set. Gundagardi itni hai unke set pe. Asit says, "I am a God."

She continued by saying that none of the present cast members would have the audacity to criticise Asit Modi's actions. A contract promising not to disparage them in the media was also given to Monika. The former actress revealed that even Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal didn't criticise the show's creators when the other performers quit their roles.Monika added, "Jab unke saath cheezein hui toh wo boli. Sabko apni job bachana hai. Jitna torture unhone kiya hai kisi ne nahi kiya hai."

Sohail Ramani, the project manager, was criticised by Monika for acting inappropriately with everyone on the sets. She added that Sohail even mistreated Nattu Kaka, and she claimed that the actors on the sets of TMKOC are treated like "dogs."
