KOLKATA: Bengali actor Abhishek Chatterjee passes away at the age of 58 on Thursday 24 March after suffering from health issues.

As per reports the Indian Bengali actor working predominantly in Bengali movies died due to a sudden cardiac arrest but the exact cause of his death is not yet known.

According to reports, Chatterjee felt unwell while he was shooting on Wednesday 23 March and even threw up on set several times.

The crew members at that time suggested him to visit a doctor for a checkup, however, the actor refused and returns back to his home.

After reaching home, his family members called for a doctor for medical treatment of Chatterjee and he received medication. However, late at night on Thursday Chatterjee took his last breath and passed away.

People from the Bengali film fraternity expressed their sadness over the sudden loss of the very talented Abhishek Chatterjee.

Celebrities like Trina Saha, Laboni Sarkar, Koushik Roy and Gaurab Roy Chowdhury took to their social media handle to pay heartfelt condolences to the family of the Chatterjee and expressed grief over the death of the actor.

It may be mentioned that Chatterjee was recognized for his outstanding contribution to Bengali cinema and also for his performance in the television industry of Bengali.

Chatterjee completed his school education from Baranagore Ramakrishna Mission Ashram High School for boys located in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas.

He had done his graduation from Seth Anandaram Jaipuria College which comes under the University of Calcutta.

In 1986, the actor made his big-screen debut with the 1986 movie Pathbhola by Tarun Majumdar acting in opposite with well-known actors like Utpal Dutt, Sandhya Roy, Tapas Paul and Prosenjit Chatterjee.

Chatterjee was involved in notable projects such as Papi, Ora Charjon, Tumi Koto Sundar, Haraner Nat Jamai and Toofan among others.

His contributions in the hit Bengali television include his roles in serials namely Khorkuto, Phagun Bou, Mohar and Kusum Dola.
