Watch Tanushree Dutta In A Short Film That Deals With Sexual Harassment In Bollywood - Read Details

On International Women’s Day which held on March 8, a new short film called Inspiration, directed by Atul Bhalla, will be released online. That featuring Tanushree Dutta, it'll speak of stories of sexual harassment in Bollywood. It additionally features Ishani Sharma and Taranjeet Kaur.

Speaking to the media concerning the project, Tanushree said: “It deals with the issue of willful exploitation of young newcomers in showbiz or the other field where they don’t have mentors or guidance.” Explaining additional if it'll talk of a true episode, she simply said: “It could be a new format where reality meets fiction.” She shot for the film during her stay in Mumbai last year.

Talking about how the project happened, she said that she was approached by an online content platform, which has also produced the film. It may be recalled that last year Tanushree started the #MeToo movement when she called out Nana Patekar for sexual harassment on the set of her 2009 film, OK Horn Pleassss. The aftermath was that a number Bollywood biggies like Sajid Khan, Vikas Bahl, Rajat Kapoor, Chetan Bhagat, Rajkumar Hirani, Alok Nath, Anu Malik and Kailash Kher were accused of sexual misconduct.

Bollywood celebrities like Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, and Hansal Mehta among many others have come out in support of actress Tanushree Dutta, who has spoken up about her sexual harassment at the hands of veteran actor Nana Patekar on a film set a decade ago.

Tanushree, a former beauty queen, who had first raised the allegation against the actor in 2008, brought the spotlight once again on her unpleasant experience of working with Nana during the shooting of “Horn ‘Ok’ Pleassss”, in a recent interview. While speaking to the media, Tanushree said it was because of Nana’s powerful position as a National Award winning actor that her voice had remained suppressed for so long.

Quoting journalist Janice Sequeira’s Twitter thread where she corroborates Tanushree’s story, Farhan Akhtar wrote on Twitter, “This thread is very telling. @janiceseq85 was there at the time of the incident being debated today. Even when #TanushreeDutta had career concerns to keep quiet 10 years ago she did not & her story hasn’t changed now. Her courage should be admired, not her intention questioned.”

Meanwhile, Tanushree was invited as a guest speaker to Harvard Business School. The special session was curated by journalist Pankaj Pachauri. A video clip of him introducing Tanushree to the audience is online.
