Kabul: In a shocking and heartrending incident of a blast taking place near Kabul University has ended up killing at least six people, while 27 students met severe injuries. The explosion took place on Friday.

Amidst the frequent attacks on the Afghan security forces by Taliban militants, this news of blast near the Kabul University is disheartening and disappointing. Despite the repeated efforts of the United States towards ending the long-running Afghan war that has taken place since 18-years, the latest news of violence in the country has indicated that there is much to attain yet.

Reportedly, eyewitnesses of the blast have said that the blast took place when a number of students were waiting near the campus gate to attend an exam. As there was a group of students at the blast site the casualties in the blast increased.

Although there have been no claims immediately after the blast, two previous blasts taken place a few hours before are proved to be done by Taliban militants. The earlier blast was conducted in the form of blasting two car bombs outside police headquarters in the southern city of Kandahar. This aftereffect of these blasts too was discouraging as it led to killing at least 12 and wounding more than 80.

Speaking about the Kabul University blast, Health ministry spokesman Wahid Mayar has told the media that the injured students have been taken to the hospital.

As per the eyewitness and an official of the interior ministry, as soon as the blast took place a vehicle caught fire. This blast, like many other blasts in the country, was caused by a sticky bomb which is a common threat in Kabul. In this sort of bombing, the terrorists stick explosives under vehicles.

However, there was a second bomb planted near the explosion site which was defused by a team of police.
