DHAKA: Bangladesh Assistant High Commissioner in Agartala, on Monday, said that Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sent 300 kilograms of Haribhanga mangoes to Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb as a gift. The Commissioner presented the gift to the CM on behalf of the Bangladesh PM.
The Commissioner posted a tweet by saying about the event.
Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb took to Twitter to thank the Bangladeshi PM for gifting him mangoes and said that he is overwhelmed on receiving the gift. He said that he is overwhelmed to receive the gift from the PM. He wishes that the India-Bangladesh alliance under the leadership of the PM Narendra Modi remains intact.
As per the sources, the Sheikh Hasina has sent 2,600 kilograms of mangoes as gifts to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee too. It is said that the varieties of Haribhanga mangoes were transported through the land border via Benapole checkpoint.
The local media reports stated that the shipment arrived at the Benapole-Petrapole check post on the India-Bangladesh border last Sunday. They said that the Bangladesh PM has sent mangoes for President Ram Nath Kovind as well.
The Haribhanga mango is a mango cultivator produced in the northwest side of Bangladesh, particularly in the Rangpur area. Development of the Haribhanga mango has as of late gained popularity among the farmers of northern regions. Privately called Haribhanga, these mangoes are round in shape and dark in color. Haribhanga is profoundly fleshy, fiberless, and regularly weighs 200 to 400 grams. They have been recorded weighing as much as 700 grams.
Also, Haribhanga currently sees huge scope cultivation in Mithapukur, Badarganj, Pirganj and Sadar upazilas in Rangpur region just as different spaces of the northern region, the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) attempting to create of Haribhanga.
