Boris Johnson: elected the new conservative party leader and will be the next PM of UK

Britain is getting its new prime Minister as Boris Johnson wins the election to become the new face of the UK prime minister. The new Conservative leader has defeated his opponent Jeremy Hunt in a poll of Tory members. The total votes won by Boris are 92,153 votes, while his rival gained 46,656 votes.

With the election of Boris Johnson as new UK Prime Minister, the former PM Theresa May gets replaced from Wednesday. Boris, the former London mayor in his acceptance speech says that it has been "a privilege to serve in her cabinet".

The election for the UK prime Minister witnessed the casting of almost 160,000 votes that represented an 87.4% turnout rate.

As the new British leader Boris Johnson is on a collision course with both the European Union and Britain’s Parliament over the Brexit deal issue, it is speculated that the nation may be heading for a rocky ride, be it a political crisis, a recession, an election or a referendum.

Furthermore, 3 months later from now, on October 31, Britain will be leaving the European Union as per the schedule.

As promised by Boris, he will seek a new deal with the EU or leave without an agreement at the end of October. However, with Boris taking up the responsibilities of the PM office, the political crisis hovering around UK will not come to an end as at least three cabinet ministers, namely, Philip Hammond, Rory Stewart and David Gauke have threatened to resign from the cabinet in the next 36 hours if Boris gets elected. The ministers have threatened to take the severe step as Boris is prepared to carry out a no-deal Brexit once he comes to power.

Philip Hammond had said that the Brexit deal is “not something I could ever sign up to.” Boris has left this option open which is not acceptable to him.
