Dubai Govt Becomes First In World To Go 100% Paperless, Says Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan

DUBAI: On Saturday 11 December, Crown Prince of UAE (United Arab Emirates), Sheikh Hamdan made the major announcement that the government of Dubai has become the first 100 per cent paperless government in the world by establishing itself as a leading digital capital.

This new and big development of digital Dubai is a part of the 'Dubai Paperless Strategy' which has led to the success in making every government work done through online process by reducing man working hours.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum added in his statement on Saturday that the United Arab Emirates has successfully achieved the main objective of the 'Dubai Paperless Strategy' which was launched earlier in the year 2018.

As per the initiative of the Dubai Paperless strategy by the Dubai government the country has saved around 1.3 billion Dirham which is USD 350 billion and also saved 14 million-man working hours.

The crown prince stated that the success of this target of becoming 100% paperless marks the beginning of a new phase in the journey of Dubai to digitize life in every aspect, a journey which is meant for innovation, a better future, and creativity.

With this Dubai Paperless Strategy, integration and collaboration among the participating entities led to the development in automation of services and processes making them available to customers. The initiative enabled cutting the consumption of paper by over 336 million papers.

Hamad Al Mansoori, Director General of Digital Dubai informed that all the procedures and transactions including external and internal in the Dubai Government are now made 100% digital. He said that every government work that was earlier done through paper has now transformed into online as they are at present managed by platform from comprehensive digital government services.

The Dubai Paperless Strategy was implemented in a very systematic order following5 consecutive phases. All the five phases various groups of government entities were made paperless by making them perform through the digital method.

By the time of conclusion, the Dubai Paperless Strategy was implemented in all the 45 government entities available in the United Arab Emirates. All these government entities provide over 10,500 important transactions and more than 1800 online services.
