Former Miss Argentina Mariana Varela Ties the Knot With Fabiola Valentin, ex-Miss Puerto Rico

SANJUAN: Mariana Varela, a former Miss Argentina, and Fabiola Valentin, a former Miss Puerto Rico, are now wed. The newlyweds posted a video on Instagram showcasing their romantic moments from their trip, engagement, and wedding. 

Mariana Varela, ex- Miss Argentina, and Fabiola Valentin, ex- Miss Puerto Rico, revealed on social media that they were now married. After keeping their romance a secret for a while, the newlyweds made it official.

The couple recently shared a video on each other's respective Instagram accounts showcasing their love, engagement, and some sentimental moments. On October 28, the pair became legally married.

Mariana Varela and Fabiola Valentin can be seen vacationing together in the clip and giving viewers a sneak peek at their elaborate marriage proposal. They are also seen in the video wearing white as they celebrate their nuptials on the steps of the San Juan, Puerto Rico, marriage bureau.

"After opting to keep our relationship private, we open our doors to a wonderful day. 28/10/22," they captioned the video when they shared it.

When they first met during the Miss Grand International 2020 competition, Varela and Valentin became fast friends. Varela competed on behalf of Argentina in Miss Universe 2019 and finished in the top 10 of the Miss Grand International competition in 2020. Additionally, the duo has collaborated with a number of modeling agencies.

Several other beauty queens complimented the newlyweds, including Samantha Bernardo, Miss Grand Philippines 2020/2021, who wrote: "OMG! Congratulations, sisters! Love Love Love!"

Although same-sex unions have been permitted in Puerto Rico since 2015, Article 68 of the Civil Code expressly forbade the recognition of unions "between individuals of the same sex or transsexuals earlier which contracted in other jurisdictions." A revised civil code that eliminated the prohibition against same-sex marriage and deleted article 68 was signed into law by Governor Wanda Vázquez Garced on June 1, 2020. The new rule provides recognition of same-sex partnerships formed in other jurisdictions and employs gender-neutral terminology in relation to married spouses. Additionally, it was made legal in Argentina in 2010.
