Guwahati: An Indian origin man drowned while trying to save three kids who were drowning in a river in the United States.

Manjeet Singh, a 29-year-old Fresno resident, was at the Reedley Beach on the evening of August 5 when he noticed three kids being swept away in the Kings River, US.

He jumped in to save them, but was pulled away by the current.

ABC30 reported that Singh came to the United States two years ago from India and had only recently moved to Fresno to start a trucking business.

As a matter of fact, he had started truck driving school on August 5 itself. After his training, he went down to Kings River with his brother-in-law to ride jet skis.

The three children- two eight-year-old girls and a 10-year-old boy were playing around the Kings River when they were pulled under a bridge by the current.

Singh was standing on the bank and saw the kids struggling and decided to jump in to rescue the kids.

ABC30 quoted Reedley Police Commander Marc Ediger, "He went in to try to help them and unfortunately went under pretty quickly and never came back up."

"He didn't know them, but just saw them needing help so he jumped in," Ediger reportedly said.

Other bystanders helped pull two children out to safety. One eight-year-old girl was underwater for around 15 minutes before she was pulled out.

According to the report, the 8-year-old girl is on life support at Valley Children's Hospital. The little girl was with her friends and their parents when they were swept away. She might not be able to make it.

Here is to the brave Manjeet Singh, who did not even think twice before putting his life at risk to rescue these children.
