French Luxury Fashion House Chanel announced their new global CEO as Leena Nair who is a British nationalist and Indian born. Nair will join the fashion house Chanel by the end of January next year and will be based in London.

Being appointed as a CEO in such an admired and iconic company of Chanel, Nair expressed her happiness saying that she is humbled and honoured to be the global CEO of the French fashion house.

Chanel was founded in the year 1910 by fashion legend Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel in Paris and then grew to be an outstanding embodiment of French chic. The luxurious fashion house Chanel is known across the world for its quilted handbags, No.5 perfume and tweed suits. The company chooses a consumer good veteran to run one of the largest goods groups across the world.

Chanel is owned by Alain Wertheimer who is a 73 years old French billionaire. Alan along with his brother Gerard Wertheimer became the two owners of the French luxury fashion house in 2016. Alan was working as the company's CEO temporarily as the post remained vacant in search of a suitable person but now he will shift to the role of global executive chairman after the appointment of Nair.

52 years old Nair joined Chanel after 30 years of her dedicated working career with Unilever where she was in the position of Human Resources Chief and she had also worked as a member of the Unilever's Leadership executive committee appointed in the year 2013.

With her position in Unilever, Nair became the first Asian, first female and youngest-ever Chief Human Resource Officer of Unilever. She was responsible for running and delivering the business and finance-related performances in Unilever. She had overseen 150, 000 people while working with Unilever and the company has achieved gender parity across global management.

Alan Jope, the CEO of Unilever thanked Nair for her remarkable contribution throughout 30 years of service. He mentioned that she has been a driving force of the company's diversity and equity.

Nair was born on 11 June 1969 in Kolhapur of Maharashtra and became a leading businesswoman. She had worked as non-executive director of the business, energy and strategy department of the British government and she has also provided service as a non-executive board member at BT.

Her net worth is approximately around $1.5 Million. Nair also worked as HR Executive Director of Hindustan Unilever Limited during the years 1992-2007. The Great British Businesswoman's Awards named Leena Nair as the Role Model of Year in 2021.
