Indian Restaurant Saathiya In Ukraine's capital Turns Into Shelter Home

New Delhi: Amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, an Indian restaurant in Kyiv has garnered praised and appreciation for its splendid work as it has opened door to Kyiv residents.

Since, the kyiv residents are facing an unprecedented crisis following the Russia attack on Ukraine, the restaurants has turned itself into a shelter for these residents.

The Indian restaurant named Saathiya was started by Gujara'ts Manish Dave, 52, for Indian students studying in Ukraine, but before it could make a full-fledged run, the war broke out and since then it is a safe house for anyone who wants to save themselves from airstrike and shelling.

Speaking to Washington Post, Dave said that he will provide food and shelter as long as he can.

According to a report, Dave has also posted a message on Telegram apprising the people in Kyiv that his restaurant is in the basement and a safe place to stay in the situation.

"Dear friend from India or any national, our restaurant is in basement and it's called safe place to stay in this situation. If you don't have proper safe place to stay during this time, please go here. We will try our best to arrange free food and stay according to our capacity. Stand united with Ukraine," the message read.

The restaurant is located about a three-minute walk from hostel of the international students of Bogomelets National Medical University.

Today is the seventh day of the war between Ukraine and Russia. The talks between the two have failed and meanwhile Russian troops continue to bombard the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv.
