Ankara: In a bizzare incident, a flight attendant onboard a Turkish airline was taken aback after finding a severed snake head in her meal.
The incident reportedly took place on a SunExpress flight bound from Ankara, Turkey to Dusseldorf, Germany on July 21.
The cabin crew member claimed that as they were having their lunch, they discovered a little snake's head camouflaged amongst the potatoes and vegetables, according to the Independent, which cited the aviation blog One Mile at a Time.
As per reports, the food was provided by Sancak Inflight, a catering service associated with SunExpress airlines.
However, the catering company that supplied the meal has vehemently denied that it could have originated from their facilities. In retaliation, the airline has decided to suspend its contract with the food supplier and an investigation has also been launched to look into the matter.
A video of the incident shared on Twitter showed the head of the reptile lying in the middle of the food tray.
The airline has issued a statement in the wake of this incident and affirmed that providing highest quality services to both guests and employees is their top priority.
"With more than 30 years of experience in the aviation industry, it is our top priority that the services we provide to our guests on our aircraft are of the highest quality and that both our guests and employees have a comfortable and safe flight experience," Independent reported quoting the statement.
Meanwhile, the caterer, Sancak Inflight, also issued a statement wherein they denied the allegations levelled against them.
The catering service mentioned that they did not use "any of the foreign objects that were supposedly in the food when cooking."
Sancak Inflight stated that the "foreign object" was added after the food was prepared since the food is cooked at high temperatures and the possibility of finding a fresh snake head in their food did not make sense.
