Kabul: According to reports, a player of the Afghan Junior Women's national volleyball team has been beheaded by the Taliban.

The player, identified as Mahjabin Hakimi had reportedly been killed by the Taliban in October.

The family members of the deceased player have been threatened against disclosing the incident to anybody by the Taliban.

Before Afghanistan was taken over by the Taliban, Mahjabin was a member of the Kabul Municipality Volleyball Club and played for the team.

The images of what seemed like Mahjabin's severed head had surfaced on social media and spread like wildfire a few days ago.

It has been reported that one of the coaches confirmed the fact that Mahjabin had in fact been killed by the Taliban.

The Taliban have been very vocal about their opinion against women athletes and players claiming that women playing sports are against Islamic values.

Earlier, the women in Afghanistan were ordered by the Taliban to stay home. Only those working women whose professional skills could be replaced by men were allowed to report to work, as per reports. This included women working in the field of design and engineering and also female attendants of public toilets for women.
