Robot conducts COVID-19 tests, blood tests. Surprised? Check here

Cairo (Egypt): An Egyptian engineer, Mahmoud el-Komy has designed a robot, called the Cira-03, which will carry out menial tasks in the medical field to help decrease the exposure of health workers to COVID-19 patients. The remote-control robot, Cira-03 can "take blood tests, perform echocardiograms and X-rays, and display the results to patients on a screen attached to its chest."

The main objective behind the invention of this robot is to stop the spread of the virus to the medical workers.

The robot has a human-like face and head, which are attached with robotic arms. The 26-year-old mechatronics engineer, Komy said, "I tried to make the robot seem more human so that the patient doesn't fear it. So they don't feel like a box is walking in on them."

The robot, Cira-03 can also check the temperature and warns the COVID-19 patients if they do not wear masks. The robot is now being tested at a private hospital in the north of Cairo, Egypt.

"There has been a positive response from patients. They saw the robot and weren't afraid. On the contrary, there is more trust in this because the robot is more precise than humans," said the inventor, Komy.
