ITANAGAR: The COVID-19 caseload in Arunachal Pradesh rises to 33,916 with 252 more persons tested positive for the infection, a senior health official said here on Thursday.

The death toll in the frontier state remained at 160 with no fresh casualty reported in the past 24 hours, State Surveillance Officer Dr Lobsang Jampa said. The Capital Complex Region reported the highest number of fresh cases at 53, followed by Lohit (23), West Kameng (21), Changlang and Namsai at 19 each, Upper Subansiri (15), East Kameng and East Siang at 14 each and Papumpare at 10, the official said.

Nine fresh cases were also reported from West Siang, Eight each from Tawang and Lower Subansiri, seven from Lower Siang, six from Tirap, five each from Lower Dibang Valley and Anjaw, four from Longding, three each from Pakke Kessang and Upper Siang, two each from Kra Daadi and Kurung Kumey and one each from Dibang Valley and Siang district respectively.

Of the fresh cases, 238 were detected through rapid antigen tests and seven each through RT-PCR and TrueNat methods, the SSO said adding, 96 people have symptoms.

The active cases in the northeastern state now stand at 2,567, he said. As many as 233 patients were cured of the disease on Wednesday taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 31,189, Jampa said. The recovery rate among coronavirus patients in the state stands at 91.96 per cent while the active percentage stands at 7.57 and the positivity rate at 4.77 per cent, he said.

The Capital Complex Region - comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas - has the highest number of active cases at 464, followed by West Kameng (280), Changlang (191), East Siang (176), Namsai (160) and Lohit at 143 cases.

Altogether, 7,32,078 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in the State so far, including 5,273 on Wednesday, Jampa said.

State Immunisation Officer Dr Dimong Padung said that a total of 5,21,760 people have been administered COVID-19 vaccine doses so far in the state since the inoculation drive began in January.
