Suicide Bomb Blast In Pakistan: 9 Cops Killed, 11 Injured

ISLAMABAD: A suicide bombing incident that occurred in Pakistan's Bolan on Monday resulted in at least nine police officers dying and 11 others being hurt.

Kachhi Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mahmood Notezai, explained the specifics to Dawn, stating that the explosion happened on the Kambri bridge, which is located close to the boundaries of Sibi and Kachhi.

Authorities said they believe the attack was a suicide bombing, but they are still looking into the specifics.

Security personnel and bomb-disposal teams have arrived at the scene, according to Notezai, and a search operation is in progress.

"The area has been sealed off," he continued.

Importantly, the police officers who perished in the suicide bomb attack were from the Balochistan Constabulary (BC), a division of the provincial police force in charge of guarding sensitive locations like jails and important events.

According to the research, there is a connection between the bordering regions of Afghanistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, where the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), an illegal organisation, has increased its attacks.

Meanwhile, Balochistan's chief minister, Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo, denounced the attacks and blamed the terrorists for the province's lack of progress.

Notizai added that the attack took place in Sibbi, a city located about 160 kilometres (100 miles) east of Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan.

According to medical officials who spoke to Reuters, the attack, the most recent in a string of incidents involving police officers in Pakistan, injured at least seven cops.

Despite the fact that ethnic Baloch guerrillas have been fighting the government for decades and accusing it of plundering Balochistan's abundant mineral and gas resources, no group has claimed responsibility for Monday's attack.

“The suicide bomber was riding a motorbike and hit the truck from behind,” senior police official Abdul Hai Aamir stated.
