They say where there is a will, there is a way, and what better example can one set than Australian slalom canoeist Jessica Fox who has recently won a bronze and a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics and a 'condom' was instrumental for her victory!

Well, that sounds a little weird to some, but Jessica Fox actually used a condom to repair the damaged kayak that eventually won her gold at Tokyo Olympics. Earlier this week, just before winning her maiden Olympic gold medal in the women's C1 canoe slalom and a bronze medal in the category of canoe slalom K1 final, an athlete shared a video of her on TikTok while she was busy making makeshift repairs on her damaged kayak with the help of a condom. The video is now doing rounds on various social media including Instagram and Twitter and has become viral. Jessica captioned her video "Bet you never knew condoms could be used for kayak repairs."

In this viral video clip, the Australian slalom canoeist was first seen applying a carbon mixture on the front of the kayak vessel, and then she used the condom to secure the mixture and protect it from washing off by water due to high speeds. According to fox, condom layering gives a smooth finish to the carbon for better aerodynamics.

The Instagrammers were overjoyed with her ingenious idea and lauded her for her will to win at any cost, as one commented "Engineer's mind. Bravo!" while the next thread followed "You learn something new every day." Soon the awestruck people flooded her comment section with emojis and messages lauding her feat.

It may be mentioned that Tokyo organisers planned to hand out 60,000 condoms, but encouraged athletes to use them at home, rather than the Village. The organising committee of the Tokyo Olympics further added "The distributed condoms are not meant to be used at the Olympic Village, Instead they are supposed to be "brought back by athletes to their respective home countries and to help them support the campaign to raise awareness (about HIV/AIDS)".

So believe it or not, a condom can not only keep you safe, but also earn you laurals and pride. Be safe and always use condoms because who knows how handy it can come one day… Maybe the multi-tool companies start adding "THE CONDOM TOOL" in their arsenal after this!
