The Zodiac killer who was infamously known as a serial killer involved in a lot of murder cases and brutal crimes in San Francisco. The killer has created fear among different communities across Northern California identified by private investigators as a man who died in 2018.

The serial killer has been successful in terrorizing the people of the San Francisco Bay area since the late 1960s since then the case has become a mystery for the police and also for the public. In the year 1969, a 340 cypher has been sent by the Zodiac killer to the San Francisco chronicle mentioning proudly that they had no fear to get caught.

The cypher which contains full of code letters with symbols, numbers and jumbled letters for many decades remained unsolved but then solved finally after 51 years and decoded as "I hope you are having a lot of fun in trying to catch me" though this doesn't provide any evidence about the killer.

The case-solving specialist consists of forty volunteers from different fields including legal, journalist, military, law enforcement and academic backgrounds. This team each year receives numerous tips and suspects and finally on 6th October, they declared that they've come out with the identification of the killer from the evidence of a forensic test and physical test of a very recent murder case of a teen girl not connected with Zodiac. The evidence could relate to a man namely Gary Francis Poste who is regarded by the specialist team as a very strong suspect and claimed that this person is responsible for 5 murders in 1968 and 1969. The investigators solved the coded letters of cypher and after rearrangement of the letters found proof which contains anagrams of Poste's name and sketch matches which features scars on Poste's forehead but the local police of San Francisco rejected the evidence provided by the investigation team.

The serial killer kept sending many taunting messages in coded letters to the police officials and newspapers and once said to have murdered 37 victims thereby many of the cyphers were detected by the case breakers. One of the web designers namely David Oranchak who is also a coding expert has contributed a lot in solving the cypher and he cracked that it was unlikely the killer could include his name in the letter. David Oranchak and the investigation team had sent the information to the FBI after which they received acknowledgement from the FBI but the case is still an ongoing investigation for the FBI San Francisco Division and the Law enforcement agencies.
