KINGSTON: The Olympic sprinting champion from Jamaica, Usain Bolt, lost millions of dollars that were in his account with Stocks and Securities Ltd., an investment company situated in Kingston.

Lawyers for the track and field athlete claim that the $12 million has disappeared from his account with a Jamaican investment company and that they are ready to go to court if required to prove their case. The account currently only has $12,000 in it.

Bolt's attorney, Linton P. Gordon, told Fortune magazine over the phone that the account was a part of his retirement and life savings. Gordon said on Wednesday, "It's upsetting news for anyone, and definitely in the case of Mr. Bolt, who established this account as part of his private pension."

In the event that the corporation does not reimburse the money, Gordon said that "we will be taking the case to court." We hope that the situation will be settled so that Mr. Bolt may get his money back and live in peace because it is a great disappointment.

Stocks and Securities Ltd., a company with its headquarters in Kingston, said in a statement on January 12 that it had learned of fraudulent activity by a former employee and had reported the matter to law enforcement. It also said that it had taken measures to secure assets and strengthen protocols.

According to a statement made on Monday by the Jamaica Constabulary Force, "possible fraudulent actions at (SSL) which are reported to have affected the accounts of Mr. Usain Bolt among other individuals" are being looked into by those teams.

Tuesday night, Finance Minister Nigel Clarke claimed SSL had perpetrated "alarming and despicable fraud" and promised to "bring all criminals to justice." According to Gordon, Bolt's account was created to act as a pension for both his parents and the eight-time Olympic gold medal-winning sprinter.
