WHO praises Aarogya Setu app

New Delhi: The WHO praised the Aarogya Setu application of India. The mobile application has been helping the health departments to identify COVID-19 clusters.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the WHO director-general said that 150 million users have downloaded the app. The app has further helped the public health departments in identifying COVID 19 cluster areas and expand testing in a targeted way.

The app, which was launched in April, was to protect the Indian citizens amidst COVID 19. The app is designed in a way that it informs the users about the potential risk of COVID around them, ways to stay healthy and receive relevant advisories in relation to the pandemic.

The WHO Chief had earlier praised India for its efforts to contain the spread of COVID in Dharavi slum, Mumbai.

The Ministry of Health has issued guidelines for the management of co-infection of COVID along with other seasonal epidemic-prone diseases on Tuesday.

"As per the WHO case definition, a COVID case may present with acute onset of fever and cough, or acute onset of any three or more of the following: fever, cough, general weakness or fatigue, headache, myalgia, sore throat, coryza, dyspnoea, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, altered mental status," the ministry said.
