Women empowerment is receiving new wings with FICCI FLO North East. This Monday, the organization held another interesting event, which proved to be a common ground for many of North-East’s empowered and self-made women. Termed as “Chhaygaon To Cannes,” it was a talk show between the highly acclaimed filmmakers, Manju Borah and Rima Das, the all-in-one producer, director, scriptwriter, editor and cinematographer whose second film, “Village Rockstars” has won four national awards and many international awards as well. The filmmakers got candid about their lives and their struggles to establish themselves as women creators, worthy of all the accolades they received. Other prominent personalities in the event were a filmmaker, Prerana Barbarooah of “Tumi Aahibaane” fame; social entrepreneur Saroj Khemka and also the Principal of Army Public School-Narengi, Mrs.Dastidaar.

The event was an inspiration to all the women and an ambience of inclusion, passion and lightheartedness was maintained by Manju Borah, who besides regaling the audience with her awe-inspiring tales, coaxed Rima Das to reveal her journey through the making of “Village Rockstars”. Rima Das was accompanied by her mother, her cousin Mallika Das and the child actor of the film, Bhanita Das, who played the role of the protagonist “Dhunnu” and has earned the National Award for Best Child-Actor.

The event was facilitated by the FICCI FLO NE past Chairperson, Joyshree Das Verma, and the vote of thanks was given by Juhie Saboo. The guests received enthusiastic felicitation, which also included a certificate about a tree being planted in the name of Rima Das in Meghalaya.
