Here's Why Cast Iron Is Better Than Teflon

New Delhi: Usually one must have noticed, especially bachelors, that while cooking on a normal kadhai or tawa, the food sticks to it. In order to get rid of this problem, sometimes we put oil or ghee before cooking. Once in a while is ok, but doing it on a regular basis is dangerous for our health.

Now, to get rid of this, manufacturers, came out with a solution to this problem and started putting a layer on these utensils so that nothing sticks to them. We know such utensils as non-stick utensils. To make such utensils, a special material is coated on them which is known as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and commonly known as Teflon.

However, the non-stick cookware isn't too good for our health, Let's dive into details and understand why Cast Iron is better than Teflon.

Teflon

It is true that utensils with Teflon are very useful for us, but it is also true that Teflon is also harming us. When we overheat pots, Teflon emits deadly smoke that is not only dangerous to us but also affects nearby birds. This causes the symptoms of flu in humans. Going forward, it can even become fatal. According to reports, some experiments have also shown that keeping these non-stick utensils on the stove for two or five minutes (Teflon) starts breaking and due to which dangerous substances start releasing.

But now the question arises is there an alternative to such non-stick utensils? To this, the answer is yes and one can use Cast Iron.

Cast Iron

There are a few companies in the market that have been manufacturing utensils made of stainless steel and cast iron. These utensils are considered better than non-stick utensils because there is no risk of deadly diseases from them. As far as possible, one should use non-stick utensils as little as possible, and if not possible then, in that case, one should use them with great care.
