One of the biggest Hindu festivals 'Maha Shivratri' will be celebrated this year on Tuesday 1st March across the country.
This year people are eagerly waiting to celebrate the festival with full energy as in the previous years the celebrations were restricted in certain ways following the covid pandemic.
Maha Shivratri which means the great night of Shiva holds great significance for the devotees as according to the Hindu calendar, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati got married on this special day.

On the day of Maha Shivratri, the devotees keep fast for the whole day as Hindus believe says fasting on this particular festival brings fortune and good luck for their loved ones.
Women observe fasting on the day mainly with the wish of getting a life partner similar to Lord Shiva. People worship on this day with full dedication and enthusiasm so that they can impress Lord Shiva which will lead all their wishes to get fulfilled.
Hindus across the country perform important rituals on Maha Shivratri and get together in various temples to chant mantras like 'Om Namah Shivaya.'
