Washington- Three Indian-American CEOs namely Sunder Pichai from Google, Punit Renjen from Deloitte, and Shantanu Narayen from Adobe have joined the steering committee of the Global Task Force on Pandemic Response on May 7 (Thursday). 

The committee is going to be overseeing the corporate sector's initiative towards providing assistance to India in its battle against the novel coronavirus. 

The three Indian-American CEOs have been actively overseeing the US companies' response to the COVID-19 crisis in India. 

The other prominent members from the corporate sector who have been included in the committee on Thursday are Mark Suzman, CEO, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; Joshua Bolten, president, and CEO, Business Roundtable and Suzanne Clark, president, and CEO, US Chamber of Commerce.

The other members of the committee are Julie Sweet, CEO of Accenture; Andy Jassy, the CEO of Amazon, Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, Brian Moynihan, Chairman of the Board and CEO, Bank of America; Raj Subramaniam, president FedEx; and Arvind Krishna, Chairman, and CEO, IBM, Gail McGovern, president, and CEO, American Red Cross; Mike Parra, CEO Americas, DHL Express; Jim Fitterling, Chairman and CEO, Dow; Alex Gorsky, chairman of the Board and CEO, Johnson & Johnson; Michael Miebach, CEO, Mastercard; Geoff Martha, chairman, and CEO, Medtronic; Brad Smith, president, Microsoft; Ramon Laguarta, Chairman of the Board and CEO, PepsiCo; Carol Tome, CEO, UPS; Sanjay Poonen, COO, VMware; and Judith McKenna, President, and CEO, Walmart International. 

The corporate sector of the United States has so far dispatched more than 25,000 oxygen concentrators for India. Deloitte with critical logistical support from FedEx was the first to send over 1000 oxygen concentrators to India on April 25. The oxygen concentrators were shipped to designated healthcare facilities for immediate use, said the task force. The task force had sent the first shipment of ventilators earlier this week and the rest 1000 ventilators are expected to reach India by June 3. 

Medtronic, a leading global brand in medical technology, services and solutions, will provide end-to-end support for the initiative. So far, 16 businesses have joined the task force's ventilator initiative who will jointly provide over $30 million in support for India's healthcare crisis. 

To date, 45 US businesses and associations have joined the task force, primarily focused on providing assistance to India's COVID-19 crisis, and will soon form additional working groups to address the surge in COVID-19 cases in other nations as well.
