NEW DELHI: On the day when the world is celebrating the day of love i.e. Valentine's Day, India remembers the 40 CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) who lost their lives in the worst attack on 14 February 2019 called the Pulwama attacks.
This year marks the third anniversary of the deadliest Pulwama attack which brought huge tragedy for the entire nation.
Three years ago on this day, India experience the darkest moment with the news of the worst target ever on Indian security officers therefore the day is marked as the Black Day for India.
The Chief of Army Staff General of India MM Naravane on the third anniversary of the Palwana attack paid homage to the brave jawans of CRPF who laid down their lives in the line of duty during the terror attack.
On India's black day i.e. on 14 February 2019, the terrorist attack was carried out by a Pakistan-based terrorist organization called Jaish-e-Mohammad.
The terror group took the opportunity to attack the Indian armed forces when they were moving from Jammu in a convoy of 78 vehicles towards Srinagar. On their way, to Srinagar, the unfortunate incident took place exactly at NH no. 44 where Indian forces were attacked by members of Jaish-e-Mohammad.
A car full of bombs hit the CRPF vehicles and resulted in a big blast where a total of 40 CRPF died and several others sustained severe injuries.
India's Retaliation:
A counter-terror airstrike was carried out by Indian defence forces just a few days after the Pulwama attack. On 26 February of the same year, numerous jets of IAF bombed the terrorist camps of the Jaish located in Balakot which resulted in the death of more than 500 terrorists.
PAF (Pakistan Air Force) then attempted to retaliate after the bombing on 26 February as they conducted a strike on Indian military camps which cause no harm to IAF.
