New Delhi:

COVID Infected Baby Died in GTB Hospital, New Delhi: A 5-month-old baby succumbed to COVID in a hospital in New Delhi. While it is very sad news for the family, it has also set the alarm bells ringing for the government, health department, and families with children.

It is now being widely reported that the third wave of COVID, which is expected to hit India around September might target children. Doctors and experts have been raising the red flags and have been asking people to take precautions to avoid the children from getting infected. The death of this infant should come as a wake-up call for all.

Prahlad, the father of the deceased child, was inconsolable as he put his daughter Pari to rest. The infant had tested positive for COVID and she had spent the last six days on a ventilator battling for her life.

According to the sources, her inconsolable father said that she was under treatment at the GTB Hospital. "She must have been in so much pain but could not express it to them. The virus was so infectious and dangerous, it damaged her lungs completely", the father was quoted as saying.

He said that he and his whole family did everything they could to save her. Her uncle even donated blood. The infant's uncle said that she was low on blood, so he donated his own blood because she needed A-positive and he has the same blood group.

Eminent Cardiac Surgeon, Dr Devi Shetty has said that there is a possibility that in the third wave the virus would predominantly target the children, mainly because adults are either infected or immunised. Several other doctors prescribe to the view shared by Dr Shetty.
