Air India Express flight with over 180 passengers on board skids off runway while landing at Kerala's Kozhikode

Guwahati: An Air India Express flight with 191 people (including crew members) on board that had come from Dubai in the UAE skidded off the runway today while landing at Karipur Airport, Kozhikode on Friday evening, reports said.

According to reports, the Air India Express flight was about to land at Kerala's Kozhikode when the accident happened.

The Dubai-Kozhikode flight X1344 appears to have overshot the runway. The mishap occurred amid a heavy downpour in the area.

At least 24 ambulances have been rushed to the Kozhikode airport.

In pictures that have reached The Sentinel Digital from the site, the plane appears to have broken in two. However, the plane is not on fire yet. Rescue operations have reportedly begun.
