MOHALI: In a shocking
incident today, four unidentified armed men fired a volley of 15 bullets at the
Youth Akali Dal Leader Vicky Middukhera in Mohali's Sector 71, killing him on the spot.
The grizzly crime was captured in a nearby CCTV camera while the video shows that, the victim was seen running away from the spot when two men fired at him. The unknown assailants who killed the youth Akali Dal leader were waiting in a car parked nearby the victim's vehicle.
According to the Mohali police, the youth Akali Dal leader Vikramjit Singh Middukhera aka Vicky was shot dead by the four assailants at broad daylight in Mohali area of Punjab on Saturday.
According to the Police, "The incident took place in Sector 71 of Mohali when Vikramjit, alias Vicky Middukhera, was at a property dealer's office in the area on Saturday morning. Vicky arrived in Mataur market and was about to sit in his white SUV when he was attacked by the unknown assailants."
According to the video and eyewitness accounts, the Youth Akali Dal leader reportedly ran half a kilometre after two of the attackers opened fire at him. He collapsed outside the Community Centre in Sector 71.
The police further informed that, "Four masked men allegedly fired around 15 bullets at the student leader and fled the spot. The incident has been caught on CCTV camera installed nearby the crime scene."
The police said they are scanning the CCTV footage from the area to ascertain the identity of the accused.
It may be mentioned that, following the heinous crime, SSP Satinder Singh, the DSP and Mataur SP rushed to the spot. The initial probe into the daylight murder revealed that Vicky Middukhera carried a licenced revolver in his car could not get a chance to grab I and fire back at the assailants.
Notably, Vicky Middukhera was the former president of the Student Organisation of Panjab University (SOPU), Panjab University, Chandigarh. He joined the SAD's student wing Student Organisation of India (SOI). His brother Ajay Middukhera had contested the recent municipal election against the son of former Mohali mayor Kulwant Singh.
Police informed that they are investigating into the case and are yet to ascertain the identity of the masked assailants.
