Andhra Pradesh Police Recovered 280 Kg Cannabis (Ganja) in Krishna district

Andhra Pradesh Police seized 280 kg cannabis (ganja) from two different vehicles and detained 13 people at Gannavaram in Krishna district on Thursday. Circle Inspector, Srinivas said, “The police were looking for vehicles at Pottipadu toll plaza. During the search, they found 240 kg of cannabis in a tempo mini-bus and detained ten people in the bus for inquiry”. 40 kg of cannabis was recovered from an RTC bus by the police. Three persons traveling on the bus were detained”.

The police are taking the further investigation into this matter questioning the accused. Numbers of cases are increasing of ganja day by day. Police are yet to find the culprit. Within this year, more than 10 places of cannabis were seized.

Earlier, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) arrested seven persons with 840 kg ganja worth Rs 1.26 crore in the international market from Betul district of Madhya Pradesh on 7th October. This is the second catch of ganja by DRI in MP within a span of three months. In July 1003 kg ganja was seized in an ambulance near Rewa.

In another case, from a country boat at Muthupettai lagoon in Tiruvarur district police have seized 280 kg of ganja on 26th Sept. The officers of the narcotics department on 8th Sept arrested two persons for allegedly carrying 20.5kg ganja worth Rs 71,750.

According to reports, the duo would sell ganja in Tangra restaurants and to college students.

Again, the police seized around 300 kg of ganja from a truck at Koyyalagudem in West Godavari on 4th October. Cops have also arrested the driver and the cleaner of the vehicle. Six peddlers were arrested and 130 kilos of ganja worth Rs 31 lakh was recovered from their possession at Vanasthalipuram on 10th Sept.
