Army jawan martyred in Pulwama encounter, 1 terrorist shot dead

Guwahati: A militant has been killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on Tuesday, July 7. An Indian soldier also lost his life in the encounter.

A joint team of Police and Army's 53 Rashtriya Rifles laid a cordon-and-search operation in Gusso area of Pulwama, but when the joint team reached the suspected spot, hiding terrorists fired upon them and a gunfight broke out. The forces retaliated, and in the encounter that ensured, a militant was killed. A soldier and a policeman were also injured during the encounter.

It is to be noted that a senior police officer confirmed the exchange of fire between the joint team and terrorists and two to three terrorists are believed to be trapped.
