Atyacham Trust for beggar free India led by Tamil Nadu teacher rehabilitated over 5000 homeless people

Tamil Nadu: For 6 years now, P Naveen Kumar, has been rehabilitating the homeless and those begging on the streets.

Naveen took the path of a giver because he knows what it is like to be hungry. His father is handicapped and mother, bedridden, so there was a financial crisis at home right from the beginning of his childhood, said Naveen.

Naveen adds "The idea is to give them a chance at life. Some of them turned out to be businessmen who had lost everything, or people with mental health issues who were thrown out by families, or just the elderly rejected by their families,"

He had successfully rehabilitated many in need by compromising his pocket money. Naveen continued his higher studies in Thermal engineering when he decided to form the Atyacham Trust for beggar India, till he hit the most obvious problem- funds.

Instead of asking for money from home, he tried his luck in asking for donations and funds from friends and other college students who, in return, discouraged him.

After getting the job of a lecturer the scenario changed. He, now, has a team of 400 volunteers across 18 districts through Atyacham Trust.

Naveen re-established 572 beggars and rehabilitated over 5,000, placed some in government-run old age homes or reunited them with families.
