Guwahati: As we head towards the New Year, the first list of bank holidays in January 2021 is out.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) listed the first list of holidays, while banking operations will remain closed. In order to prevent any last-minute difficulties, customers are advised to plan their bank-related work accordingly.

In the month of January 2021, banks would remain closed for 16 days. These include the four Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays.

As per the RBI guidelines, banks remain shut on the second and fourth Saturdays of all months. It is to be noted that the bank holidays differ in various states, and not all the banking companies observed it. It also depends on festivals being observed in specific states or notification of specific occasions in those states.

Holidays on the above mentioned days will be observed in various regions according to state declared holidays. However, for the gazetted holidays, banks will be closed all over the country.

RBI states that in 2021 banks would remain closed more than 40 days through the year. Although the mobile and internet banking will remain functional as normal while bank branches would remain closed on these dates.
