New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party is leading the Bihar elections with 70 seats, making itself the single-largest party in the elections. The ruling Janata Dal (United) of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has fared lower than its ally BJP.

The NDA is ahead of the Tejashwi Yadav-led opposition's Mahagathbandhan. The Mahagathbandhan is an alliance of Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), and the other Left parties. In the early trends, the grand alliance was leading. However, as per the current trends, its NDA, who is leading with 124 seats, 17 seats ahead of the Mahagathbandhan.

The BJP has contested on 110 seats, and JD (U) has contested for 115 seats. If BJP continues to be the single-largest party in Bihar till the final tally, it will be for the first time that the BJP party will be in the majority in Bihar election.

The BJP has earlier announced that irrespective of the number of seats won by any party in the NDA, Nitish Kumar would be the Chief Ministerial candidate from NDA.

The Bihar BJP president Sanjay Jaiswal will address a press conference at 7 PM on Tuesday.
