Guwahati: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has finally tested negative for the dreaded coronavirus on Friday (August 14). This was confirmed by Shah via a tweet.

Tweeting in Hindi, Shah wrote, "Today, my coronavirus report has come negative." Thanking the almighty and the people who wished him a speedy recovery from the disease, Shah stated that he will continue to remain in home isolation for a few more days on the advice of doctors.

In another tweet, the Home Minister thanked the doctors and staff of the Medanta hospital. "I express my gratitude to all the doctors and paramedical staff of the Medanta hospital who helped me fight off the coronavirus infection."

On 2 August, Amit Shah had tested positive for the coronavirus and was admitted to the Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. "I have undergone a coronavirus test after showing initial symptoms and have tested positive. My health is fine but I am getting admitted to a hospital on the advice of doctors," Shah had tweeted in Hindi.

Amit Shah had also requested those who had come in contact with him in the last few days to get tested for the virus and isolate themselves.

So far, several prominent politicians, including Amit Shah, BS Yediyurappa, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Arjun Ram Meghwal and Karti Chidambaram, among others, have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
