GUWAHATI: The alleged suicide of a female jawan with the Border Security Force raised questions among the members of the family of the deceased. The incident reportedly took place at her living quarters in the Cooch Behar locality of West Bengal.
The woman jawan, who was identified as Dhritashree Rabha belongs to the Dakuapara village in Boko of Assam. She was posted at Cooch Behar for last six months before she was found hanging at her own quarters on the afternoon of Monday.
The family members of Dhritashree Rabha expressed their shock at this incident and found it impossible to believe that she could take this extreme step.
“She had called a night before and informed us that she would be visiting us on April 1 for Bihu. She was a jolly girl and never in my life have I thought that she would take such an extreme step,” mentioned the mother of the deceased. The mortal remains are expected to be bought home on Tuesday for the final rituals.
Another tragic episode came to light from the Golaghat police department where the Superintendent of Police's Personal Security Officer (PSO) was discovered hanging inside the confines of his Golaghat quarter a few days back. Rakesh Rai was the police constable who passed away. Although the exact reason for the occurrence is still unknown, it has been speculated that he may have killed himself. For a post-mortem examination, the body was transported to Shaheed Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital in Golaghat.
Days prior to the incident, a senior police officer was discovered hanging at a police camp in the Cachar area of Assam. In the Kathal neighbourhood of Cachar, the constable, Biplab Chakraborty, was discovered in a room in the 6th Assam Police Battalion camp. When they discovered a body hanging in the room, Chakraborty's coworkers alerted higher authorities, who then notified the police.
