New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided its own headquarters in New Delhi. The CGO complex was raided after four of its employees were booked for allegedly accepting bribes from a company, which is being accused inquired by the agency. Search operations were launched in 14 different locations associated with the officials who are booked, along with a few middlemen and chartered accountants, across the country.

The anti-corruption unit of CBI filed a case against its four officials. They are RK Rishi, a DSP (deputy superintendent of police) rank officer posted at CBI Academy in Ghaziabad, DSP RK Sangwan, and two officials from BSFC (Banking Security & Fraud Cell), inspector Kapil Dhankad and steno Sameer Kumar Singh.

A few advocates and unidentified persons along with the mentioned officials were accused of "compromising the investigation of certain cases."

The CBI spokesperson, RC Joshi said that the search operation was conducted in Delhi, Ghaziabad, Noida, Gurgaon, Meerut and Kanpur at the premises of the accused. Joshi further added that a few officials might have accepted bribes at the CBI premises.

The search operation was also carried out at CBI Academy in Ghaziabad. The candidates are trained in the academy before the beginning of their official CBI career.

Among the two DSPs who are booked, one has worked in the agency's Banking and Securities Fraud Cell for a long time. The accused officials are suspected to take bribes in connection with a bank fraud case, which involves a Mumbai based company. The suspected officials are accused of providing favours to the company and further sharing information about the case to the company every month in exchange for a bribe.

A few years ago, the agency had put five officials of one of its anti-corruption units under scanner for helping suspects, who were being probed by the agency.
