CBI raids Former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s residence

Guwahati: The CBI on Friday suddenly made a raid in former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s residence in Rohtak. The sudden raid in the former CM’s residence is in connection with the irregularities in land allotments in Gurugram.

The CBI raid in the veteran Congress leader’s Model Town residence took place at around 8:30 in the morning and underway so far. As reported by sources, during the time of the raid, the former CM himself has remained present in his house.

Notably, it is in connection with the alleged land scam of Gurugram that the investigative agency has been conducting simultaneous raids at more than 30 places in Delhi and nearby areas.

Before this, the Supreme Court had ordered a CBI probe into the acquisition process for 1,407 acre and subsequent release of 95 % land on November 1, 2017. As per the allegations, around 1310 acres of this land was given to private builders.

However, the Central Bureau of Investigation has maintained a tight lip in matter of the land scam and has not shared much of the details on the investigation and its findings.

Hooda, of late, has been found tangled in quite some issues as it is just two weeks before that Hooda had received bail by a CBI court in Panchkula for his alleged involvement in a case pertaining to illegal re-allotment of land to Associated Journals Ltd (AJL). The AJL is the publisher of National Herald, in 2005.

This sudden raid in Hooda’s residence will certainly be a big blow on his reputation and political records as lately, he has been campaigning for Randeep Surjewala in Jind for the last few days for the crucial by-poll that will be held on January 28.
