Delhi Court Convicts Ex-Haryana CM Om Prakash Chautala In 2005 DA Case

New Delhi: A Delhi court on Saturday convicted Former Haryana CM Om Prakash Chautala in the disproportionate assets case, registered against him in 2005.

The Rouse Avenue Court will argue on Chautala's sentence on May 26 and the sentence will be announced on the same day.

Earlier on May 19, the Rouse Avenue Court had reserved its verdict in the case of possessing disproportionate assets.

The CBI had filed a charge sheet against Chautala on March 26, 2010, accusing Chautala of amassing disproportionate assets of Rs 6.09 crore between 1993 and 2005.

In 2019, the Enforcement Directorate had attached properties worth 3 crores 68 lakhs of Om Prakash Chautala. These properties are located in New Delhi, Panchkula, and Sirsa.

This action was taken in connection with a case registered under money laundering in a case of disproportionate assets.

The former CM Om was convicted in the JBT scam in 2013, where he was sentenced to ten years in the Prevention of Corruption Act.

However, Chautala was released from the Tihar Jail on July 2, 2021, from a 10-year prison sentence after completing the due formalities.

Chautala has served as the Chief Minister of Haryana four times between 1989 and 2005.
