Mumbai: Maharashtra has declared six states - Delhi, Kerala, Goa, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand as the places of "sensitive origin" as these places have a bigger number of COVID cases.
The order signed by Maharashtra Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte on Sunday stated that passengers travelling to Maharashtra from the six above-mentioned states will need an RT-PCR negative test within 48 hours of their travel.
The order stated that the decision has been taken to "stop the influx of other COVID-19 virus variants into the state of Maharashtra from other locations."
On Sunday, Delhi recorded another big surge in its daily COVID-19 score with 25,462 fresh cases and the positivity rate rose up to 29.74 percent. According to the state health department, Maharashtra, which is the worst-hit state, recorded the highest number of 68,631 fresh infections and 503 deaths. The cumulative number of COVID cases in Maharashtra has surged to 38,39,338 while the number of deaths reached 60,473.
In Goa, 67212 people are affected so far. Out of 67212, 59277 have recovered and 883 patients have died. 7052 patients are still in hospital and recovering. In Gujarat, 404569 people are affected so far. Out of 404569, 337545 have recovered and 5377 patients have died. 61647 patients are still in hospital and recovering. In Kerala, 1239425 people are affected so far. Out of 1239425, 1140486 people have recovered and 4930 patients have died. 93683 patients are still in hospital and recovering. In Rajasthan, 414617 people are affected so far. Out of 414617, 344331 have recovered and 3151 patients have died. 67135 patients are still in hospital and recovering. In Uttarakhand, 124033 people are affected so far. Out of 124033, 102367 have recovered and 1868 patients have died. 17293 patients are still in hospital and recovering.
According to the
Union Health Ministry data, India recorded 2,73,810 new
COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The highest one-day surge took India's COVID caseload past the 1.5 crore mark. 1,619 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours. Also, there are 19,29,329 active cases in the country at present while 1,29,53,821 people have recovered from the disease. The death toll is at 1,78,769 and 12,38,52,566 people have been vaccinated so far.
