NEW DELHI: Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, held a roadshow at Ghonda on Sunday in preparation for the MCD elections as the Delhi BJP launched its star campaign throughout the city.

While highlighting the tragic murder of 26-year-old Shraddha Walkar, who was allegedly killed by her live-in partner Aaftab Poonawalla, Sarma called for a stringent rule against "love jihad" and urged people to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi to strengthen the nation.

"To ensure that no one is victimised, no riots break out, and no one is oppressed, the current system must be strengthened.

We require leaders like Narendra Modi and Lord Shri Ram, not individuals like Aaftab.

The nation requires civil courts and a strict anti-love jihad law so that anyone behaving like Aaftab should be hanged right away "Sarma remarked.

Sarma emphasised the quality of development projects carried out by the AAP government "I observed a sizable flyover on the route to this location and questioned MP Manoj Tiwari if the Kejriwal administration had built it.

He said that the Center was handling the work.

I noticed an elevated road, and Tiwari Ji told me Nitin Gadkari had completed the construction.

I inquired as to the actual accomplishments of the Kejriwal administration, to which he replied, "only mohalla clinics."

"More multi-specialty hospitals like AIIMS are needed in the capital than mohalla clinics.

Delhi will never become London or New York due to the constant construction.

An AIIMS and cancer hospital are being built in Guwahati, which has a population of 10 lakh, with the assistance of the Center, "Sarma added.

Tiwari and Ghonda candidate Preeti Gupta was with Sarma.

Tiwari remarked, "The Delhi chief minister disappears from the city for a month, while Sarma is renowned for good governance, works 20 hours per day to build Assam, and is relatively well-liked among young people.

It's a chance to stop the government's abuses and re-elect the BJP in MCD."

Thousands of people joined the march and dropped flower petals from the roofs of their homes as the roadshow travelled along Ghonda's main thoroughfare.

"Himanta Dada Aaye Hain, Jeet Ka Sandesha Laye Hain'' and "Padna nahin hai chakkar mein, koi nahin hai takkar mein" were among the BJP activists' chants.
