NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police has issued a production warrant against imprisoned gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in connection with the death threat case against rapper Honey Singh. Bishnoi, currently held in Punjab, will be brought to Delhi by the Punjab Police to be presented in court. The Delhi Police Special Cell plans to request custody of Lawrence Bishnoi, and if granted, they will question him regarding the ongoing investigation into the death threat against Honey Singh.

The incident began when Honey Singh received a death threat from gangster Goldy Brar, prompting him to file a complaint with the Delhi Police. Notably, Goldy Brar is suspected to be involved in the murder of pop star Sidhu Moose Wala in Punjab the previous year.

Honey Singh received the threat through voice notes and calls. Recently, he met with Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora and handed over the threatening audio to the authorities. Recognizing the seriousness of the matter, the case was assigned to the Special Cell of the Delhi Police, who subsequently filed an FIR. Honey Singh stated, "I was in America when my manager received threat calls, which included death threats towards me. I filed a complaint with the police commissioner, and he assured me that they would investigate. I believe the Special Cell will handle the case, as I have provided them with all the information and evidence."

"This is the first time I have received a threat, and I am scared. We also received voice notes as evidence. These threats came from international phone numbers," the singer added.

For those unfamiliar with the background, Goldie Brar, also known as Satwinderjit Singh, is the same gangster accused of murdering Sidhu Moose Wala. Born in 1994, he is a BA graduate who currently resides in Canada and operates remotely through associates in Punjab. Brar faces multiple pending criminal cases. He was the murder's chief planner, according to the charge sheet submitted in the Moosewala case.

The same phone number also left threatening voicemails and random calls for Honey Singh's manager. According to the complaint, a case was opened at the Special Cell police station under sections 506 (criminal intimidation) and 387 (placing someone in dread of death or great harm to commit extortion) of the Indian Penal Code. There is now an ongoing inquiry.

The Delhi Police's efforts to bring Lawrence Bishnoi to the capital indicate their determination to thoroughly investigate the death threat against Honey Singh. With the Special Cell now involved in the case, it is expected that a comprehensive examination will take place to identify and apprehend those responsible for the threats.
