NEW DELHI: E-commerce giant Flipkart has inked a pact with the Adani Group to strengthen its supply chain infrastructure and enhance its capabilities to serve its growing customer base all over the country.

Notably, the partnership with Adani Logistics is all about setting up a 34 lakh square feet fulfillment center in Mumbai which will be constructed by Adani Logistics and will be leased by Flipkart.

"I am delighted to see two of India's fastest-growing businesses come together to help build some of the most critical as well as state-of-the-art infrastructure that our nation needs," Karan Adani, chief executive officer (CEO) of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), said in a stock exchange filing.

Further, with the advent of this new fulfillment center, the facility will also create 2,500 direct jobs and thousands of indirect jobs, according to the statement.

The fulfillment center is expected to be operational in the third quarter of the financial year 2022 and is expected to have the capacity to house 10 million units of sellers' inventory.

"The Adani Group is unmatched in the way it has gone about building infrastructure across India. What it brought to us was a unique combination of logistics, real estate, green energy, and data center infrastructure capabilities," Kalyan Krishnamurthy, CEO of Flipkart Group, said in the statement.
