Ahmedabad: Former Gujarat chief minister Keshubhai Patel breathed his last on Thursday after prolonged illness. He was 92.
The former Gujarat CM was admitted at Sterling Hospital in Ahmedabad after he complained of chest pain. The veteran BJP leader passed away following a cardiac arrest, hospital sources said.
Keshubhai Patel served as the CM of Gujarat in 1995 and from 1998 to 2001. Patel had been active member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) since the 1980s. Subsequently, he left the BJP in 2012 and formed his own political party Gujarat Parivartan Party. His party merged with the BJP in 2014.
As per reports, the politician had earlier tested positive for coronavirus in September.
At the time of being diagnosed with COVID-19, the veteran BJP leader was asymptomatic.
