Jaipur: If you thought that many Indian families are not very fond of a girl child, then read this story. A family in Rajasthan hired a helicopter to welcome their newborn baby girl home. They booked the chopper to bring the baby girl and her mother home as she was born into the family after a gap of 35 long years.
Hanuman Prajapat and his wife Chuki Devi met their daughter-in-law two months ago in Rajasthan's Nagaur district hospital where she gave birth to a baby girl. From the hospital, the woman went to her parents' house in Harsolav village with the baby. On the auspicious occasion of Ramnavami, the Prajapat decided to bring both the mother and the baby to their home.
A chopper was hired at a cost of over Rs 4.5 lakh to cover a distance of just 40 km.
"By bringing my two-month-old daughter in a helicopter, we want to tell everyone that the birth of a daughter is an occasion that should be celebrated like a festival. Instead of feeling sad, we should all be happy when a daughter is born," the father of the child said. Read more
Villagers and relatives sang bhajans and showered flowers on the baby and her mother.
The baby's father said that girls and boys should be treated as equals. "It is usually seen that people do not celebrate the birth of a girl. There should be no discrimination between a girl and a boy. I will make my daughter study and fulfil all her dreams," he said.
It is not that the family is happy about the birth of a baby girl, the family is also very happy with their daughter-in-law from making them happy with a baby girl.
To bring them home in a helicopter, the family had to take permission from the district collector which was granted.
