NEW DELHI: A grenade blast was reported outside a gate of the Army cantonment in Pathankot on Monday.
According to police, authorities sounded an alert just after the incident. However, no casualty was reported in the blast that took place late on Sunday night in front of the Triveni gate of the cantonment, they said.
Police said that some unidentified motorcyclists threw the grenade in front of the military area, and they were verifying CCTV images.
Meanwhile, security has been tightened across the Jammu region in the wake of the grenade attack in Pathankot and the security forces have set up checkpoints at various places on the Jammu-Pathankot Highway. Vehicles are being thoroughly checked.
On October 6, a drone was spotted near the Jaitpur post in the Bamiyal sector of Punjab's Pathankot district. Alert Border Security Force (BSF) jawans opened fire at the drone, shooting four to five rounds before the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) disappeared.
