NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will return to the Gujarat election campaign trail after a two-day hiatus, this time with a three-hour mega roadshow covering 16 assembly districts for the second round of State Assembly elections.
According to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), this massive event will span more than 50 km beginning at the Naroda Gam and ending at the Gandhinagar South constituency.
PM Modi is expected to make at least 35 stops at the memorials of notable individuals, including Pandit Dindayal Upadhyay, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, during his roadshow, which is anticipated to start at 3:30 pm and last until 6:30 pm this evening.
The Prime Minister's campaign tour is anticipated to pass through 16 assembly districts that vote in the second round of the Gujarat election on December 5.
Some of the constituencies the prime minister would visit during his roadshow are Thakkarbapanagar, Bapunagar, Nikol, Amraiwadi, Maninagar, Danilimbda, Jamalpur Khadia, Elisbridge, Vejalpur, Ghatlodia, Naranpur, and Sabarmati.
Bhupendra Patel, a BJP candidate for chief minister, is running from the Ghatlodia seat.
It's interesting to note that voting for the first phase of the Gujarat election is taking place while the prime minister canvasses for the second phase.
From 2001 to 2014, Gujarat's longest-serving chief minister was Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The BJP won 99 out of a total of 182 seats in the 2017 elections in Gujarat. With Narendra Modi acting as the state's chief minister for the longest period of time, the party has been in power for the past 27 years.
This time, the party led by PM Modi, Amit Shah, and CR Paatil hopes to win more than 140 seats, which would be a record.
The state has historically been a BJP stronghold, and the party has set its eyes on winning a seventh term in office.
Gujarat, a state with 182 assemblies, will hold elections in two phases on December 1 and 5. On December 8, the polling data will be released.
