Mumbai: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) on Sunday played Hanuman Chalisa from loudspeakers at its office in Ghatkopar.

MNS chief Raj Thackeray on Saturday had asked to remove the loudspeaker or else he will put a loudspeaker in front of the mosque and Hanuman Chalisa will be played.

''Why loudspeakers are played in mosques at such a loud noise? If this is not stopped, Hanuman Chalisa will be played in a louder voice on the speaker outside the mosques. I am not against prayer or any particular religion, you can pray at your home,'' he had said.

A video shared by the news agency, ANI, showed the two loudspeakers tied to the tree, in which Hanuman Chalisa is being played at the MNS office located in Ghatkopar. In the video, a large number of people have gathered near the office.

According to reports, these people are supporters of MNS as some people are seen holding the MNS flag in their hands.

However, criticising Raj Thackery's comments, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut attacked him asking in which BJP-ruled states were Azaan stopped and loudspeakers removed from the mosques.

Later, the MNS Chief applauded Yogi Adityanath's government in Uttar Pradesh, as said that the state is progressing and he wants the same development in Maharashtra.

"I am happy to see that Uttar Pradesh is progressing. We want the same development in Maharashtra. I will visit Ayodhya, but today I will not tell you when. I will also talk about Hindutva," he said.
